This colorful blackwork sampler by Sally Rudkin was inspired by the time of year when children head back to school. Samplers were traditionally used to teach children how to stitch various styles of needlework, and this project is a great way to practice blackwork stitching.

Stitch count: 110w x 110h

Model fabric: 32-ct. Magnolia Hand-Dyed Belfast Linen by Lakeside Linens (stitched over two threads)

Materials needed to complete: cross-stitch fabric, Kreinik Silk Mori threads or DMC cotton embroidery floss, and box with opening to fit design size

This is a downloadable pattern, first published in the 2007 Keepsake Cross-Stitch Calendar. Supplies used to stitch this pattern were available at the time of publication. However, you may need to find substitutes if supplies are no longer available.
