"CO 119 sts IS correct. (I am not one of the previous 'posters'.) Every repeat between * and * (between single asterisks) is 17 sts. Partial repeats between * and ** are noted and THEY plus the sts at the beginning and end of the rows always add up to 119. CO 119 sts IS CORRECT.... I DO agree that a 24" circular needle works better than a 16" circular. "

" Cast on 119 sts is incorrect as you use 18 sts for each repeat in line 1. *k2tog, k3, yo, k3, ssk** requires 10 stitches as follows 2+3+3+2 =10 Add on the 8 whether it be 8 alone or 4 at the beginning and ending 4 and the total is 18. 7 repeats then require 7 x 18 = 126 for cast on. You lose 1 stitch in each repeat by the 2 decreases and the 1 yo. 7 sets of 17 sts are required for round 3. Therefore the correct cast on should be 119 = 7 = 126. Awaiting your reply. 119 does not work"

"Cast on of 119 sts IS correct. In row 1, you K4, then do 6 repeats using 17 sts each, then finish with a partial repeat using 5 sts, and K8. (4 + 6x17 + 5 + 8 = 119)"

"You need 126 stitches to complete the first row of the design, not 119 and I found using 24" circular needles work better than 16" circulars."
